Former WSG Player Trains with German Traditional Club
The center-back played for the Tyroleans in the 2024/25 season and is currently without a club. Now, a move to the 3. Liga league leaders beckons him.
Former WSG defender Jonas David could soon join a new club.
The 26-year-old is currently on trial with German third-division club MSV Duisburg, where a long-term commitment beckons him. This is reported by the "Neue Ruhr Zeitung".
This would mean the German would find a club again after three months without one – his contract with SSV Ulm expired in July. Due to a cruciate ligament rupture suffered at the end of October 2025, however, David only made ten appearances for the traditional club.
With David's signing, Duisburg could alleviate the situation in central defense, where the "Zebras" currently face a shortage. Currently, the former Bundesliga club only has three central defenders available.
17 Bundesliga Matches for WSG Tirol
With David, the club would gain a lot of experience: The defender was developed at HSV and played 59 competitive matches for the "Rothosen".
Additionally, the 26-year-old gained international experience in the 2024/25 season with WSG Tirol, for whom he made 17 appearances in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. He scored two goals and provided three assists.
In Duisburg, David would meet several players with a past in Austria – among others, Max Besuschkov (formerly Austria Klagenfurt), Conor Noß (formerly Blau-Weiß Linz), and Aljaz Casar (formerly SCR Altach) are under contract with the traditional club.
