After Defeat: Schalke Players Rally Behind Muslic
Schalke 04 remains in crisis. Nevertheless, after the defeat against Leipzig, the team stands behind the Austrian coach.
After FC Schalke 04's 0-2 defeat against RB Leipzig on Saturday evening, pressure on coach Miron Muslic is growing.
While the defense largely stands firm, the club has major problems creating chances in attack.
16th Place and Cup Exit
In the league, the Gelsenkirchen team has been winless for five games. They also exited the DFB-Pokal in the second round against second-division side Dynamo Dresden. With six points from eight games, Schalke currently sits in 16th place, a relegation playoff spot.
In short: things are not going well. The Austrian coach of the Royal Blues is facing increasing criticism week after week. However, after the defeat against Leipzig, his team demonstratively stands behind Muslic.
Defender Backs Muslic
"You couldn't fit a piece of paper between the team and the coach. The man is incredible, he supports us every day and stands behind us. Now we have to give that back," said Schalke defender Timo Becker after the game in an interview with "DAZN".
Next week, Muslic faces an Austrian coaching duel with Christian Ilzer. Against TSG Hoffenheim, the 44-year-old urgently needs a positive result. Otherwise, the pressure on the coach in Gelsenkirchen is likely to increase further.
