VfL Wolfsburg parts ways with Christian Eriksen
The Dane's contract, after he collapsed again in the summer, is terminated prematurely. His future remains uncertain.
Christian Eriksen and VfL Wolfsburg will go their separate ways in the future.
As the club announced on Wednesday, the Dane's contract will be terminated by mutual agreement. It would actually have been valid until June 30.
"It is currently important for him to be closer to his family in Denmark," Wolfsburg wrote.
Furthermore, it was clear to the club that the decision rested with the 34-year-old. "We wanted to give him space in this special situation and have now granted his wish for a contract termination," it continued.
For VfL, Eriksen featured 34 times last season before relegation to the second division followed. In the summer of 2026 he collapsed again during a test match for his national team. This had already happened once at the European Championship in 2021. What generally happens next for the player is not yet clear.
