First managerial sacking of the season in the 2. Bundesliga?
Things are not going well for a promotion candidate. The manager's position is becoming precarious.
Fifth game, third defeat: On Friday evening, promotion candidate Hannover 96 lost 1-2 to 1. FC Nürnberg in the 2. Bundesliga.
They are thus significantly behind expectations, and criticism of coach Christian Titz is mounting. Next week, VfL Bochum awaits as the next tough test.
Will Titz still be on the bench then? On "Sky", Sporting Director Jonas Boldt did not want to commit. That is the plan, according to Boldt. A clear commitment to the coach sounds different.
Decision lies with the club's head
He told "Bild": "We lost here and stand with four points after five games. We must be careful not to run in different directions like at the end of the game. That is crucial."
He had hoped that they could carry the momentum from the previous season, when they narrowly missed promotion spots or the relegation playoff place by finishing fourth. "But that we cannot continue like this – also in terms of results and how we gave away games – is obvious," he clarified.
According to "Bild", Boldt wants to "immediately pull the emergency brake given the precarious sporting situation," but needs the approval of club boss Martin Kind for that. However, Kind is considered a supporter of Titz.
