The match had to start 15 minutes late due to a medical emergency. At the start of the second half, the sad truth was confirmed.
The 2. Bundesliga match between Eintracht Braunschweig (the club of Austrian international Maximilian Entrup and former Austrian national team assistant coach Lars Konetka) and Dynamo Dresden (in the LIVE ticker>>>) is overshadowed by the death of a spectator.
Before the match, it was announced that it would start late due to a medical emergency in the stands. The match eventually kicked off approximately 15 minutes after the scheduled start time.
Died on the way to the hospital
At the start of the second half, the sad truth was finally confirmed: The 52-year-old Braunschweig fan, who was affected by the medical emergency, had died on the way to the hospital.
Due to the incident, both fan groups held back their support in the first half. At the explicit request of the deceased's family, fans were asked to loudly support their team.
The fans immediately complied with this request and paid their last respects to the deceased fan with loud "Once a Lion, always a Lion" chants.
