Game Turned Around! Senft and KSC Lose to VfL Wolfsburg

Maximilian Senft and Karlsruher SC suffered a 5-2 defeat against VfL Wolfsburg on the third matchday of the 2. German Bundesliga.

The day actually started according to plan for the Austrian. Already in the seventh minute, Fukuda scored with a header from a corner kick to make it 1-0. However, the joy didn't last long. Just two minutes later, Bernhardsson evaded his opponent. He managed to convert Reese's cross into the goal and level the score at 1-1.

The turbulent opening phase didn't seem to calm down, as in the 12th minute, Wanitzek restored his team's lead. He scored a spectacular goal into the top corner.

Wolfsburg Turn the Game Around

A short while later (17th minute), Wiethaupt attempted to create clear conditions but narrowly missed the goal. Wolfsburg then grew stronger again. First, Bernhardsson failed, shooting his own teammate on the line (26th minute), but then it was Reese who secured the equalizer from 25 meters out (28th minute).

The back-and-forth action continued. Before the break, Wolfsburg scored the fifth goal of the match, taking the lead for the first time. Souza converted from distance (45th+2 minute).

Late Goals for VfL

The visitors carried their momentum from the dressing room and created another good chance in the 53rd minute, which Bernat saved. Later, the game became quieter compared to the first half, before another goal-rich final phase ensued. Wahl (88th minute) and Reese (90th+5 minute) secured the 5-2 final score.

In the standings, the visitors temporarily move up to second place, while Senft's Karlsruhe is sixth.

Besides Senft, another Austrian, Christoph Kobald (starting XI), is involved in the match. For Wolfsburg, goalkeeper Pavao Pervan is on the bench.

Honsak Wins with Heidenheim Against Dresden

Heidenheim and Dresden delivered a turbulent match. After initial difficulties, the team of the ÖFB legionnaire won 5-3.

Dresden had significantly more possession in the opening minutes, but could barely capitalize on it in the first half-hour. Only after 30 minutes, Vermeij headed in from a corner to take the lead.

Chances from Hauptmann (33rd minute) and Bobzien (36th minute), and Kerber (35th minute) on the opposite side, remained unrewarded, so the teams went into halftime with Dresden leading 1-0 after a better performance.

Heidenheim started the second half with momentum. First, Costly (50th minute) failed, then Zivzivadze (51st minute). After Honsak had already received a yellow card and was again noted for a foul, he was substituted off in the 56th minute.

Heidenheim Strikes Back

Shortly after, Schöppner scored the equalizer (67th minute), but Wagner restored Dresden's lead in the 73rd minute.

The game became turbulent. Müller scored an own goal to equalize for Heidenheim (77th minute), before Mhamdi turned the game around and made it 3-2 (87th minute), Niehues contributed the 4-2 (90th minute) and Breunig added the 5-2 (90th+2 minute), before Sterner scored the 3-5 to conclude the scoring (90th+7 minute).

The winner is in fourth place in the standings, Dresden is 13th.

Greuther Fürth Defeats Cottbus

In the third match, Greuther Fürth prevailed 4-3 against Cottbus.

The home side got off to a good start in the match. After just six minutes, Copado put Cottbus ahead from a free-kick.

Just before halftime, there was excitement. Manu fouled Appelkamp, resulting in a penalty for Fürth. Klaus didn't miss the opportunity, converting into the bottom right corner to make it 1-1 (45th+3 minute).

Greuther Fürth Also Turns the Game Around

Almost immediately after the restart (46th minute), Doumbia increased the lead to 2-1 for Fürth. Cigerci then perfectly headed the ball in the 70th minute to make it 2-2.

Just two minutes later, Fürth responded. Polmann celebrated the 3-2 goal, and then Klaus scored the 4-2 (80th minute). In the 90th+4 minute, Bogdanov scored to make it 3-4.

After the victory, Greuther Fürth is fifth, Cottbus tenth.
