Bayern opens new season with emphatic win against Stuttgart

Year after year, FC Bayern Munich makes it clear in the opening match of the German Bundesliga that the title is destined for them once again this season.

Against VfB Stuttgart, the Munich team wins 5:1 at home in the Allianz Arena. The reigning champions, with Konrad Laimer playing the full match, left nothing to chance for almost the entire game and could easily have scored one or two more goals.

Stuttgart presses early

Stuttgart starts bravely, constantly putting Bayern under early pressure. It's the Swabians who create the first big chance through Tiago Tomas in the 12th minute. However, the Portuguese hits only the crossbar from very close range.

Bayern initially struggled with the Swabians' high pressing. But through set pieces, Bayern slowly found their way into the game. First, Olise's free-kick from a promising position hit the crossbar. Shortly after, the Munich team did better.

Dias and Olise falter

Kimmich curls a corner to the near post. Upamecano gets his head to it and scores the first Bundesliga goal of the season (21'). With the lead secured, Bayern took control of the game and created chance after chance.

Diaz failed alone in front of goal against a strong save from Bredlow, Olise narrowly missed the far corner with a curling shot, and Diaz was denied from distance by the Stuttgart keeper again. Thus, the slender lead was taken into halftime.

Vagnoman scores on both sides

In the second half, Stuttgart again made the first statement, only this time they could capitalize on it.

After a cross from the left, there was disarray in the Bayern penalty area, the ball bounced to Vagnoman in the back, who ruthlessly fired it into the net (52').

However, the German record champions' response was not long in coming. Just three minutes after the equalizer, Kimmich found Olise with a perfect through ball, who remained composed in front of Bredlow and calmly slotted it home (55').

Another two minutes later, things got even more bitter from a VfB perspective. Davies played the ball from the right into the middle, and while the ball reached Vagnoman, he slipped and knocked it into his own net.

Saibari showcases his skill

Olise scored again shortly after, but was marginally offside before, which is why the goal was disallowed after a brief VAR check.

Following this, Vincent Kompany's squad took things a little easier, without losing any of their dominance.

Shortly before the end of the match, new signing Ismael Saibari then showcased his skill. With a hook inside the penalty area, he left Jeltsch standing cold and played a thoughtful pass into the path of Pavlovic, who only had to tap it in (82').

In the second minute of added time, Luis Diaz then secured the 5:1 final score, again assisted by Saibari.
