Austrian international misses Bundesliga opener with Hoffenheim
Christian Ilzer will have to do without a key player for the season start in Cologne. When the Austrian international will be ready to play again remains open.
For TSG Hoffenheim, the kick-off for the new Bundesliga season 2026/27 takes place on Saturday. On the first matchday, the Kraichgauer will be guests at 1. FC Köln (3:30 PM in the LIVE ticker).
After a strong fifth-place finish last season, coach Christian Ilzer's team wants to compete for international spots again. However, Ilzer will have to do without an important player for the opener.
"It's still going to take a while"
Alexander Prass will not be available in Cologne. The 25-year-old Austrian international is still in recovery after an adductor injury and already missed the competitive season opener in the DFB-Pokal against Erzgebirge Aue.
"Prassi's muscle injury is still taking some time," Ilzer explained at the final press conference on Friday.
While Prass is gradually being reintroduced to the team, according to Ilzer, he has not yet been able to complete a session with his teammates.
When the Austrian will be able to play for TSG again is currently still open.
Another Austrian player, Patrick Wimmer, is included in the matchday squad. The 25-year-old showed remarkable early form and scored a brace against Aue.
