Kompany warns after opening win: "Everything starts again from scratch"

In the early stages, however, the Bavarians had some problems with Stuttgart's intense attacking press. A corner kick from Joshua Kimmich followed by a header goal from Dayot Upamecano was the opener for the record champions.

Bayern weather difficult opening phase

"It was a typical game against VfB; it was an even match until the last half hour. Both teams play man-to-man, which is difficult and very intense," Kimmich later commented on "Sat1".

Despite the Swabians' initial intensity, Bayern increasingly found their way into the game. Especially in the second half, they were able to showcase their full class.

Therefore, the midfield strategist considers the victory absolutely deserved in the end: "I thought the first 25 minutes weren't that good, but then we found our rhythm."

Bayern want to "continue as in recent years"

For coach Vincent Kompany, too, the opening phase was "very difficult. We remained calm, kept going, and created more and more chances. In the end, it was a deserved victory," says the Belgian.

With their dominant performance, Bayern conveyed that they have set high goals for themselves this season as well. Kompany states: "We simply want to continue as in recent years. We showed a lot of energy and commitment."

Nevertheless, the players must not get overconfident after recent years. "Everything starts again from scratch. I hope all players are aware of that," warns the Bayern coach, adding: "It's also my job to convey that to them."
