Blunder and Assist: Nemeth takes center stage in Pauli draw

David Nemeth was one of the protagonists in FC St. Pauli's 2:2 draw against DSC Arminia Bielefeld on matchday 4.

The Hamburg captain was crucially involved in both the 0:1 goal and the visitors' equalizer. First, Nemeth allowed a long ball from the opposing goalkeeper to slip through, enabling Rochelt to get a clear shot on goal and chip it in for the 1:0 (13').

Seven minutes later, the Austrian player partially atoned for his error: Nemeth won the ball against Grodowski and set up Hara with a perfectly timed through ball. The Japanese player scored low into the corner.

Initially dominant after the break

Bielefeld then emerged significantly better from the changing room. And DSC quickly rewarded themselves: Grodowski put his team back in the lead following a deflected free-kick cross (51').

The Hamburg side subsequently didn't really manage to get their own attacking play going. But the hosts presented themselves too passively and were punished for it. Ceesay finished artistically with his heel after a Pyrka cross (65').

The point didn't necessarily help either team. Arminia is provisionally eighth, while St. Pauli remains winless and is twelfth.

Senft's side comes back late

In the parallel match, Maximilian Senft's Karlsruher SC suffered their second consecutive defeat. KSC lost 1:2 to Hannover 96. Austrian player Benedikt Pichler was substituted on for the 96ers in the 61st minute.

Gindorf (26') put the hosts in front after a corner, before Fukuda (28') equalized shortly after winning possession high up the pitch.

Summer signing Hartel scored for the first time since his return to Germany; after an assist from Oudenne, his shot was deflected.

In the final phase, however, KSC came back – and with a spectacular combination. During a one-two, Egloff back-heeled the ball to Pinto Pedrosa. The right-back, who had already suffered from cramps, finished powerfully – with the help of the underside of the crossbar, the ball finally found the net.

As a result, Karlsruhe temporarily moved up to seventh place, while Hannover is provisionally tenth.
