VfL Wolfsburg wins 3-1 against 1. FC Heidenheim on Matchday 8 of the 2. Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg got off to a lightning start: Bernhardsson scored after just 35 seconds, placing the ball precisely into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box.

Heidenheim, however, hit back. Mainka headed home the equalizer for FCH (21'). Before the break, Glatzel, also with a header, restored the lead for the hosts (45'+1).

Heidenheim Pushes, Wolfsburg Scores

Heidenheim started the second half strongly, squandering several good opportunities, and it came back to haunt them. A deflected shot from Damar made it 3-1 for Wolfsburg (65').

After 67 minutes, Heidenheim brought Matthias Honsak into the game in response. However, this did not have the desired effect, and Wolfsburg remained the better team.

In the end, Strobl's side safely saw out the win and remains in contention at the top. VfL is now third (15 points), while Heidenheim has one point less and sits in fifth place.

Bochum Remains in the Relegation Zone

In the day's second top match, 1. FC Kaiserslautern prevailed 2-0 against VfL Bochum.

Both teams started cautiously, with no major chances. Lautern took the lead with the first real opportunity: After a long ball, Kanaté set up Lukovic, who beat Horn to make it 1-0 (31').

The two defensively strong teams also offered few highlights afterward. The next significant event occurred after 74 minutes when Patino hit Elvedi in the face during a header in the penalty area. A penalty was awarded, which Sahin converted to make it 2-0 (75').

That proved to be the decisive moment, with the score remaining 2-0. Kaiserslautern overtakes Heidenheim and is now fourth (15 points). Bochum remains on just seven points and stays in the bottom half as 13th.

Austrian international Michel Steinwender played the full match for Bochum. U21 national team player Thierry Fdijeu-Tazemeta was in action for the "Red Devils" from the 63rd minute.

Fürth Celebrates First Home Win

In the third 1 PM kick-off, Fürth secured their first home win of the season. The "Shamrocks" prevailed 2-0 against Eintracht Braunschweig. A brace from Klaus (32', 63') sealed the three points.

This moves Fürth up to ninth place (9 points), while Braunschweig is twelfth (7). Maximilian Entrup was absent for Braunschweig due to injury.
