KSC lives!

On Matchday 10 of the 2. Bundesliga, Karlsruher SC win 2-1 against 1. FC Heidenheim.

The hosts, for whom Austrian international Christoph Kobald plays the full match, thus celebrate only their third win of the current season. After the 1-6 thrashing on the last matchday against 1. FC Magdeburg, Maximilian Senft's side shows a strong response.

Strong start rewarded

That KSC, who also suffered a defeat in the DFB-Pokal during the week against Bundesliga bottom club Borussia Mönchengladbach, were looking for redemption was clear from the first minute.

After just under 90 seconds, Fukuda already turns to celebrate, but the Japanese player in KSC's service is just offside from Wanitzek's pass (2'). Subsequently, Olfi (6') and Civeja (7') miss further clear-cut chances, but in the 19th minute, it finally happens:

Civeja leaves several Heidenheim players standing with a superb solo run and gives keeper Dähne no chance with a clinical finish into the far corner (19') - What a goal!

Stunning goal seals the win

For the visitors, Mathias Honsak comes on at halftime, but even with the Austrian on the pitch, the balance of play does not change.

Ten minutes before the end, KSC's lifeline Marvin Wanitzek seals the win with another stunning goal. The 33-year-old's directly converted free-kick flies precisely into the top corner (80').

Heidenheim pulls one back through substitute Vogt (88'), however, the 2-1 consolation goal comes too late to complete the comeback.

The KSC thus pulls itself out of immediate danger and jumps from last to eleventh place in the table with now eleven points. Hannover 96 takes over last place. Heidenheim remains sixth with 15 points.
