Paulo Fonseca is expected to take over at Sporting Lisbon in the coming days, and Lyon is already actively searching for a potential successor.
According to the Portuguese outlet "A Bola" and the renowned French newspaper "L'Equipe", two candidates are emerging: Thiago Motta and Carlos Vicens. Both are currently without a club.
Once with Posch at Bologna
Motta coached Juventus Turin until March 2025 and previously the extremely successful FC Bologna with Austrian international Stefan Posch. Since then, he has been waiting for a new assignment.
Vicens was coach at SC Braga until two weeks ago and also had an Austrian international, Florian Grillitsch, under his tutelage there last season.
According to "A Bola", talks with Vicens are already far advanced. With Motta, there have been no concrete negotiations yet, but an exchange of information has taken place.
