Exclusion! Girondins Bordeaux's Descent Continues

The decline of the historic club Girondins Bordeaux continues!

After an appeal to French football's financial watchdog was rejected, Girondins Bordeaux is banned from all national leagues.

This means relegation to the "R1" league, a regional league system equivalent to the sixth-highest division. To prevent this, the club would have had to invest around 10 million euros.

Bordeaux won the Ligue 1 title six times in its club history, most recently in the 1998/99 season.
