Baidoo's Club Lens with Opening Victory against Auxerre
The Northern French club celebrates a successful start to the new Ligue 1 season. Samson Baidoo remains injured.
After the Supercup victory against Paris Saint-Germain, RC Lens also celebrated an opening success in Ligue 1. The Northern French side secured a 5-2 home win against AJ Auxerre while playing with a numerical advantage.
Austrian international defender Samson Baidoo remains sidelined due to a thigh injury. A three-month absence was reported at the end of July.
Lens took the lead against Auxerre with a penalty goal from Thauvin (12'). Just over half an hour later, Auxerre defender Makosso was sent off with a red card (35').
In the second half, Lens, under new coach Dino Toppmöller, definitively took control of the game. Ivanovic (49'), Abdulhamid (54'), Ganiu (66'), and Thauvin (88'/penalty) added their names to the scoresheet. On the other side, Namaso scored (61'), before Sy netted for the visitors to make it 2-4 (69').
