FC Brentford secures a clear 3-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur to kick off their Premier League campaign.

Lewis-Potter (12'), Janelt (33') and Kayode (49') get on the scoresheet. Thiago misses a penalty for Brentford (54').

Former Rapid player and new signing Mamadou Sangare is immediately in the starting eleven and leaves the field to applause in the 76th minute.

Austrian defender Jannik Schuster, who moved from FC Red Bull Salzburg to the "Bees" this summer, remains on the bench. For the Spurs, defender Kevin Danso also takes a seat on the bench and is not used.

Sangare Makes His Mark

For the hosts, who start the game well, Sangare immediately makes his mark. The Malian penetrates the penalty area with a simple one-two and lays off for Lewis-Potter, who slots home for 1-0 (12').

The Spurs cannot get a grip on the game. The "Bees" remain dangerous and double their lead to 2-0 after just over half an hour. Tottenham goalkeeper Kinsky parries a shot forwards, and Janelt converts the rebound (33').

Kayode Extends Lead, Thiago Misses Penalty

At the start of the second half, a rebound also leads to a Brentford goal: After a corner kick routine, the ball lands with Sangare, who takes a shot. Following Kinsky's save, Kayode reacts quickest and extends the lead to 3-0 (49').

Subsequently, Tottenham's Moore wastes a big chance to pull one back with a weak finish, saved by Brentford's Kelleher. At the other end, the "Bees" can increase their lead to 4-0 via a penalty, but Thiago hits the post (55').

Moore then has another chance for 1-3, but he is again denied by Kelleher (62').

Spurs coach De Zerbi is visibly frustrated in the second half. His team ultimately cannot resist the defeat.
