The 31-year-old DFB international is reportedly on the verge of a transfer to Aston Villa.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and "Sky" information, last season's Europa League winners are considering signing the former Bayern star.

The "Villans" are looking for a midfielder after the long-term injury to Amadou Onana (cruciate ligament rupture) and the departure of Youri Tielemans. Emery's side has already signed Johan Manzambi.
