Manchester United have botched the start to the season. The traditional English club has not started a Premier League season this poorly since 1986.

They have already been eliminated from the League Cup and have only won one of six games in the Premier League. With six points, they are currently in 13th place in the table. Most recently, Manchester also failed to get more than a 1-1 draw against second-to-last Tottenham Hotspur, despite having a man advantage.

Some fans are already demanding the dismissal of head coach Michael Carrick. "We have to turn things in a positive direction as quickly as possible – that's obvious," Carrick is quoted as saying.

"It hurts, very much so!"

After the performance against the "Spurs", the United players were booed by their own fans. "When things don't go according to plan, I can sometimes understand that reaction," said Carrick.

However, he added: "It hurts, very much so. It's not a nice experience, but you have to get through it."

Turning Point Against Atlético?

Tonight, the away match in the UEFA Champions League against Atlético Madrid is on the agenda. For Carrick, the match could be a decisive one.

"I see it as an opportunity to turn things around," said the 45-year-old with an eye on the match. After a difficult start in the Premier League, United wants to make a statement in the Champions League.

A defeat against Atlético could further increase the pressure on Carrick.
