Brother of LASK Star Nears Extension at English Top Club
Aston Villa blocked several inquiries; now a contract extension could follow.
At LASK, Melayro Bogarde is considered one of the key players in the squad of the double winners. The 24-year-old also has a brother who is even further along in his career.
Lamare Bogarde (22) is under contract at Aston Villa, finished fourth in the Premier League with the club last season, and won the UEFA Europa League.
Several Inquiries
As transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports, there were inquiries for him from rival clubs. Brighton & Hove Albion and Ipswich are said to have made offers, but the Birmingham club declined.
The same applies to an inquiry from Sunderland, which "The Athletic" reported on.
Bogarde has a valid contract in Birmingham until 2028; according to Romano, the club now wants to extend with the Dutchman.
The Famous Uncle
The homegrown player has already featured 63 times for the club in his career and has a market value of 18 million Euros. This makes him significantly more valuable than his brother Melayro (four million Euros, contract in Linz until 2028).
In the family, the 22-year-old is still not the most successful footballer. Uncle Winston Bogarde played for Ajax, Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea. In 1995, he won the UEFA Champions League with Ajax.
