Alvaro Arbeloa has reacted with frustration to his team's performances after a poor start in the Premier League.

The 43-year-old Spaniard's FC Fulham were defeated 0-1 by AFC Sunderland on Sunday. They had already suffered a 2-3 home defeat against FC Chelsea in their opening match.

"I didn't like the team's attitude. We didn't even fight, we didn't run – the technical level was very low," Arbeloa criticized after the match.

"It's about character"

Particularly bitter: Fulham failed to register a single shot on the opponent's goal over the entire 90 minutes in Sunderland. Wilson Isidor scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute.

Arbeloa is now demanding a clear reaction from his players: "It's about character, mentality, and ambition. We want to be competitive – that's the most important thing for a team. We haven't reached our level, we have to show more."

For the Spaniard, this is the first difficult moment at Fulham. Arbeloa had only taken over as coach at Real Madrid in January and managed Los Blancos until the end of June.

While Fulham remains pointless after two matchdays, Sunderland could soon welcome an Austrian international.

According to media reports, the "Black Cats" are on the verge of signing Kevin Danso >>>
