Liverpool dumps Spurs out of EFL Cup
The competition's record winner reaches the round of 16, as do Arsenal and Fulham.
Liverpool are in the round of 16 of the EFL Cup. They secured a 3-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
Mac Allister (21') and Gakpo (54') established the lead, even if the final phase became tense with a goal from Gallagher (69'). Szoboszlai sealed the victory in injury time (90'+1).
Dominant "Gunners"
Arsenal were on course for a resounding victory at Ipswich Town, but after four goals by Dowman (7', 47'), Madueke (16') and Merino (58'), it was "only" a 4-2 win, as Mehmeti (62') and Akpom (90'+1) scored for the hosts.
Fulham prevailed 3-2 against West Ham United. Muniz (13') and Palacios (37') put the visitors ahead twice, but Morato (16') and Pablo (45'+2) equalized each time. Bobb (78') scored the decisive goal, while David Affengruber remained on the bench for 90 minutes.
Brentford prevailed 2-1 at Reading, while Peterborough and Barnsley drew 3-3 – Peterborough won the penalty shootout because Alker was the only one of the 14 kick-takers to miss.
