The Miracle of Pilsen! Wiegele defeats Arnautovic and Cham

Viktoria Pilsen overturned their 0-3 away defeat in the first leg of their play-off duel against Red Star Belgrade, advancing to the Europa League with a 5-1 win after extra time.

Pilsen started the match well and an early goal from Adu sparked hopes of a comeback (8'). Shortly after, their chances of progressing diminished again with an equalizer from Ivanic (11'). No more goals were scored before halftime.

Pilsen Dominates in Second Half

The second half was eventful. The Czech team, led by Florian Wiegele, was awarded a penalty (51'). However, goalscorer Adu missed the chance to regain the lead. Shortly after, the Serbs suffered their first major setback. Bukari received a straight red card.

In the 58th minute, Višinský did better than Adu, converting a penalty to make it 2-1. Hrošovský added a third goal to make it 3-1, reigniting hopes for potential extra time. Red Star striker Arnautovic received a yellow card shortly after and was subsequently substituted.

The drama was almost a replica of the "Miracle of Linz." In the last minute of injury time, Kabongo scored Pilsen's fourth goal (90+5), once again from the penalty spot. With an aggregate score of 4-4, the match went into extra time.

Substitute Seals Decision

Muhammed Cham was substituted in the 95th minute. The previously introduced substitute Krcik extended Pilsen's lead to 5-1 in the 96th minute. Nothing more happened in the remainder of extra time. With an aggregate score of 5-4, the Miracle of Pilsen was achieved, securing Europa League qualification for Florian Wiegele.

Red Star Belgrade, with Marko Arnautovic and Muhammed Cham, will therefore play in the Conference League this season.
