Lienhart and Freiburg win against Fadinger's Motherwell

SC Freiburg are in the UEFA Conference League group stage.

Last season's Europa League finalists won their Conference League playoff second leg at home 4-1 (7-2 on aggregate) against FC Motherwell.

Philipp Lienhart also won the duel of the Austrian legionnaires. The centre-back was substituted on for Freiburg in the 65th minute. For former Altach player Lukas Fadinger, who played the full match as captain, the European adventure is over.

Freiburg mercilessly exploit numerical advantage

Derry Sherhant gave Freiburg the lead in just the sixth minute. In the 22nd minute, Emmanuel Longelo equalised, but at the start of the second half, the Scots weakened themselves. Jake Girdwood-Reich received a red card for an emergency foul (57.).

The Breisgau side immediately took advantage of their numerical superiority. Igor Matanovic (60.) and Cyriaque Irie (63.) sealed the victory with their goals. Keisuke Goto then put the final touch on the scoreline in the 85th minute.

Kreidl also in the group stage

Another Austrian legionnaire who can celebrate reaching the group stage is Johannes Kreidl.

The Tyrolean goalkeeper kept a clean sheet and was thus instrumental in Kuopion PS's 1-0 victory against Shamrock Rovers. The first leg in Ireland ended 1-1.
