FC Salzburg successfully qualifies for the league phase of the UEFA Europa League.

The "Bulls" win the playoff return leg against Swedish champions Mjällby AIF at home by a score of 3-0, advancing with an aggregate score of 4-0.

This means Austria has two representatives in UEFA's second-highest club competition this season. In addition to Salzburg, SK Sturm Graz will also play in the Europa League after their exit in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

Superior from the start

Their progression to the league phase was never seriously in danger.

With their 1-0 advantage, Danny Röhl's team was superior on the field, without initially creating major chances. In the first half, Salzburg fans were closest to cheering a goal from a long-range shot by Barry, which Wallinder saved for a corner (34').

In the second half, Konate failed to connect properly with the ball from a promising position after a pass from Tabakovic (57'), but shortly thereafter, the deadlock was finally broken.

Konate scores twice - and is stretchered off

Redzic shot from distance after a corner, Wallinder could only parry it - and Konate pounced on the rebound (61').

Six minutes later, the Ivorian struck again, after Baidoo had shown a great dribble. Konate headed the subsequent chip from the Ghanaian into the goal (67').

Again, just a few minutes later, the two-goal scorer had to be stretchered off after a sprint and subsequent shot. After the seemingly innocuous incident, Konate remained on the ground and was taken off the field on a stretcher (73').

Tabakovic seals the final score

Salzburg shrugged off the only drawback of the evening, as Tabakovic also added his name to the scoresheet with his fifth goal in Europa League qualification and sealed the 3-0 final score (80').

Salzburg are participating in the Europa League league phase again, just like last year, when progression to the knockout phase was clearly missed after just two successes from eight games.

The draw for the league phase will take place on Friday (1 PM), and the first matchday is scheduled for September 16.
