Thanks to LASK! Salzburg's Multi-Million Transfer Becomes More Likely
Salzburg were actually considered outsiders for the deal. But the Linz team is helping them.
FC Red Bull Salzburg has been linked with a transfer for Gvidas Gineitis (22/Torino) for weeks. Two weeks ago, an offer reportedly failed >>>
A transfer for the central midfielder had recently been considered increasingly unlikely. Celtic Glasgow was seen as the big favourite for a deal, expected to seal the transfer after successful Champions League qualification.
LASK Comeback Puts Salzburg in Favourites' Role
However, a magical night at the Linzer Gugl has now changed the situation. Following a heroic comeback by LASK, the Scots can no longer plan with funds from the UEFA Champions League.
According to "Sportal", this has an impact on the deal involving Gineitis. Consequently, the deal with the Lithuanian is currently difficult to finance.
Multi-Million Purchase Would Be Necessary
This, it is said, puts Red Bull Salzburg back into the favourites' role. However, around ten million euros would be due. The Lithuanian is under contract until 2029 and has a market value of 5.5 million euros.
Whether Salzburg will ultimately secure the transfer remains to be seen. Didi Kühbauer and LASK have at least indirectly helped.
