Katzer on Fiala: "It's not that far along yet"

When will it become official? That's what many are currently asking regarding the supposedly imminent move of Wolfgang Fiala from SV Ried to SK Rapid.

In the context of the Hütteldorfer's Conference League qualifier against Paide (live ticker >>>), Rapid's Managing Director for Sport Markus Katzer also commented on the matter.

In the half-time interview, he told "ORF": "He is an interesting candidate, but I don't want to get ahead of myself."

Fiala has done excellent work at Ried in recent years and, as far as sporting matters are concerned, is "a very valuable man," according to Katzer.

Role Remains Unclear

According to media reports, Fiala is to take on the newly created position of Technical Director for the Green-Whites. However, what exactly his tasks might be remains unclear. "The areas of responsibility are so diverse; every club formulates that for themselves," Katzer said in response to a question from presenter Rainer Pariasek.

However, it would be great if they could lure a man who has gained experience as a sporting director and managing director for sport at another club in recent years to Hütteldorf. Katzer commented: "If we can employ him with us, we will not refuse him."

However, there is no agreement to announce yet. "We will issue a press release when the time comes. Currently, it's not that far along yet."
