Ahead of Rapid Clash: Explosive Rumour About Ried's Sporting Director
Wolfgang Fiala is reportedly set to leave the Innviertel – and, of all places, join their next opponent from Wien-Hütteldorf.
SV Ried could lose one of its biggest success factors.
As the "Oberösterreichischen Nachrichten" report, sporting director Wolfgang Fiala is on the verge of leaving and is expected to join SK Rapid as Technical Director. Significantly: The Hütteldorfer are visiting the Innviertel tomorrow, Sunday (5:00 PM).
Rumours about a possible move for the 38-year-old Viennese have reportedly been circulating for some time and have been repeatedly denied by Ried. However, negotiations between the two clubs are now said to have been successfully concluded.
Immediate Switch?
Only the timing of Fiala's return to Hütteldorf is said to be undecided. The Viennese once played in the youth ranks of the Green-Whites.
It is possible that Fiala will make the immediate switch after the direct clash. At the latest, the 38-year-old will join Rapid by the end of the current transfer window.
Successor Is Ready
Fiala has been with Ried since 2020, initially working as the sporting director for youth and subsequently rising to become Sporting Director and Managing Director of Sport.
According to the report, his successor is also ready: Lukas Brandl, Fiala's closest confidant, is expected to take over the position. The 28-year-old has been active as Technical Director in the Innviertel since 2024.
