In the third round of the UEFA Conference League, two Austrians – Michael Svoboda and Nosa Edokpolor – played the full match for their respective clubs.

The clash between FC Getafe and Brighton & Hove Albion, featuring Austrian export Michael Svoboda, ended in a 1-0 victory for the English visitors.

Both teams had their chances. The best opportunity fell to the English side just a few minutes before half-time, when former Sturm Graz player Malick Yalcouye saw his effort cleared off the line by a defender at the last second.

Yalcouye scores the winner

Brighton remained the more dangerous side after the break, with the Spanish hosts only rarely managing to relieve the pressure. Despite standing at just 1.69 meters tall, former Sturm Graz man Yalcouye headed home to give the "Seagulls" the lead (64').

The visitors subsequently missed several opportunities to extend their lead. The Spanish side pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but failed to create any clear-cut chances and could not prevent a narrow defeat.

With the away victory, Brighton move up to fifth place in the table.

Heavy defeat for Edokpolor

For Nosa Edokpolor and FK Kauno Zalgiris, it proved to be another disappointing evening.

The Lithuanian side were already 3-0 down against FC Lugano after just 32 minutes. Even after the restart, Edokpolor and his teammates found no way to put the Swiss under pressure.

In the end, it remained a 3-0 defeat. The Lithuanians thus stay bottom of the Conference League table, still without a point.
