Several Austrian legionnaires were in action on matchday three of the UEFA Conference League. While Furkan Dursun put in a strong performance with FC Thun, Philipp Lienhart also enjoyed a successful evening.

Furkan Dursun started in FC Thun's 3-1 victory over Rapid conquerors Hearts. The Swiss side took the lead through an own goal (22') before doubling their advantage through Brighton Labeau before half-time.

In the second half, the Austrian put the game beyond reach. Following a corner, Dursun finished from close range with his right foot to make it 3-0 (56').

The Scots pulled one back late on through Stuart Findlay (82'), but the Swiss side held on for the win. For Thun, these were the first points of the current Conference League campaign.

Lienhart beats Salah

Thursday night also went according to plan for Austria international Philipp Lienhart.

Together with his Freiburg teammates, Lienhart was not intimidated by Trabzonspor's star-studded lineup and controlled the game right from the start. Following a corner, the Turkish side's goalkeeper Andre Onana could only parry a header forward, where Lukas Kübler reacted fastest to turn home the rebound for 1-0 (14').

The Turkish team pushed for an equalizer afterwards, but their finishing was imprecise on several occasions. Superstar Mohamed Salah also endured a tough evening, missing top-class chances. In the end, Lienhart and Co. held on for a narrow away victory.

Kreidl keeps clean sheet against Genk

Stefan Savic, who played until the 84th minute, suffered a 2-0 away defeat with Borac Banja Luka against Mjällby.

Johannes Kreidl earned a valuable point with KuPS in a scoreless draw against Belgian club Gent. The Austrian goalkeeper distinguished himself with several saves to keep a clean sheet.

Red Star Belgrade's Austrian pair Marko Arnautovic and Muhammed Cham remained on the bench for the entire game during the Serbians' last-minute 2-1 win over Inter Club d'Escaldes, a match that saw a red card for each side.

Dario Maresic was also initially left out of the starting lineup in Hajduk Split's narrow 1-0 defeat to Lincoln Red Imps FC, but was brought on for the Croatian side in the 68th minute.
