In England: ÖFB Referee Officiates His Third Champions League Match
Sebastian Gishamer is set for his third appearance in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League features the clash between Aston Villa and Bayern-slayer Viking FK (from 9 PM in the LIVE ticker>>>). Austrian Sebastian Gishamer will also be in action.
The ÖFB referee will officiate the match, marking his second appearance in the Champions League this season. Previously, he had already refereed Sabah FC (AZE) against SK Slavia Prague, as well as last year's match between Qarabağ Ağdam (AZE) and Chelsea FC.
Gishamer was actually scheduled to be in action this week for the game between Inter Milan (ITA) and Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR), as the ÖFB announced on Monday, but there was a last-minute change.
Five Austrians in Action
In addition to Gishamer, four other members of the referee team are also from Austria: As with the first two nominations in the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Assistant Referees Roland Riedel (ASS1) and Santino Schreiner (ASS2) will be on the sidelines, and FIFA Referee Walter Altmann will serve as the Fourth Official.
The VAR team consists of FIFA VMO Alan Kijas (VAR) and Croatian FIFA VMO Ivan Bebek (AVAR).
