For Charity Auction: Norway's World Cup Drum Auctioned
The Norwegian national team, featuring Erling Haaland & Co., thrilled fans at the 2026 World Cup. A piece closely linked to that 'fairytale summer' has now been auctioned off.
Last summer, the Norwegian national team made history.
Erling Haaland & Co. stormed into the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, where their run only ended in extra time against England.
Alongside the Vikings' intense and passionate playing style, the celebrations after the matches also remained memorable: a player set the rhythm of a Norwegian rowing cadence on a drum. Even the then Crown Prince and current King Haakon played the drum during that memorable World Cup summer.
Unknown Buyer Paid 1.3 Million Kroner
Now, the iconic instrument has been auctioned off for a good cause. An unknown bidder paid 1.3 million Kroner for the item, equivalent to approximately 123,000 Euros. The money will be donated to refugee aid.
“The World Cup drum is unique, and so is the story it tells,” said Knut Petter Gisholt, the sales manager responsible for the auction.
"During the World Cup, it symbolized unity, passion, and the great moments we experienced together. Through the TV fundraising campaign, it has now gained a new story – it once again brings people together and sparks commitment, this time for a very important cause," Gisholt added.
