Lucas Gourna-Douath's time at FC Red Bull Salzburg is coming to an end.

According to "Sky" information, the 23-year-old Frenchman is on the verge of a move to newly promoted Premier League club Hull City.

Gourna-Douath is said to have already completed his medical examination at his new club. "The Athletic" is among the outlets reporting this. Only the contract signing is still pending.

The defensive midfielder is expected to receive a contract until 2031 at the newly promoted Premier League club.

In return, Salzburg can look forward to a transfer fee of around 3.5 million euros. The sum could increase with bonuses, and the Austrian club also secured a ten percent sell-on clause.

Former Record Signing

Gourna-Douath joined Salzburg from AS Saint-Étienne in the summer of 2022 as an 18-year-old. The "Bulls" transferred 13 million euros to the French club at the time – a club record at that point. However, the Frenchman has since been surpassed as a record signing by Bobby Clark.

Gourna-Douath had recently played no role at the "Bulls." In his first three seasons, the former French U21 international was a regular starter and also featured regularly in the Champions League.

Loans to Rome and Le Havre

Following a fallout with the club in the summer of 2025, several loan spells followed. Between February and June 2025, he played for AS Roma, and was subsequently loaned to Le Havre in France.

In total, Gourna-Douath made 95 competitive appearances for FC Red Bull Salzburg and celebrated winning the Austrian championship with the "Bulls" in the 2022/23 season.
