Following Stefan Schwab, Lukas Malicsek, and Jeadin Rhodes, SV Ried announces its fourth external new signing for the 2026/27 season. As the club announced on Tuesday, Samuel Chukwudi is moving to Upper Austria.

The Faroe Islands international signs a contract until 2029. The center-back was most recently active for Finnish first-division club SJK Seinäjoki.

"Brings strong physical presence"

"With Samuel Chukwudi, we gain a young, hungry center-back with great development potential for SV Oberbank Ried. He has just turned 23, brings a strong physical presence at almost two meters tall, and has already proven himself at a good level with SJK Seinäjoki in Finland," says Wolfgang Fiala, Sporting Director at SV Ried.

"The fact that he is already a regular player for the Faroese national team at this age shows his quality and mentality," the 38-year-old continued.

"I see a good future at Ried"

"The decision to join Ried was easy for me. Discussions with the officials were very positive from the start. I see a good future at this club. The league is also better than where I've been before," says Samuel Chukwudi, who has made nine senior international appearances for the Faroe Islands so far.

"I'm very happy to be here in Ried now. I want to play my way into the starting XI as quickly as possible and play as many games as I can," added Chukwudi.
