In their search for a new defender, SV Ried appears to have found what they are looking for in Finland.
As reported by local sports journalist Eetu Ikola, Samuel Chukwudi of SJK Seinäjoki is on the verge of a transfer to the Innviertel club. Since the Faroe Islands international still has a valid contract in Finland until the end of the year, a transfer fee is likely to be due.
Competition from the North
Even though SV Ried has already signed midfielder Stefan Schwab, they are still looking for a player for central midfield. If rumors from Sweden are to be believed, the Innviertel club has enquired about Gabriel Sandberg.
The 23-year-old Swede is currently under contract with second-tier club IK Oddevold in his home country and is considered one of their absolute key players.
As reported by the Swedish sports portal "fotbolltransfers", Swedish top-flight clubs AIK and BK Häcken also show great interest in signing him. Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK is another club closely monitoring Sandberg's situation. According to the report, SV Ried is the only club to have made an enquiry so far.
