Austria Lustenau was thoroughly beaten in Salzburg and failed to build on their mid-week cup success against Sturm Graz.

Coach Markus Mader heavily criticized his team after the 1-5 defeat. The Lustenau players had "forgotten all the principles" the team had set for itself.

The lack of intensity particularly annoyed the coach: "We completely failed to engage in challenges. I believe we didn't win a single duel. We weren't even able to commit a foul. I didn't count a single foul in the first half. You simply cannot afford that in Salzburg," Mader stated in a "Sky" interview after the match.

"Crossing our fingers for the four defenders and Schierli"

The 58-year-old added: "We travel to Salzburg, to one of the strongest teams in Austria, and in the first half, we present ourselves like lambs."

The team's off-the-ball work particularly angered the coach: "We lose the ball, and then five or six players simply watch as the opponent executes an incredibly strong transition game, and we cross our fingers for the four defenders and 'Schierli' (goalkeeper Domenik Schierl, ed.) hoping it works out. That's simply not acceptable."

Points target "by far not achieved"

With eight points, the Vorarlberg team has "by far not achieved" their pre-season target after the first half of the season, as Mader made clear.

Next week, GAK awaits the Vorarlberg team. The Graz side is also not in good form. Markus Mader's team can therefore hope for points, but a significant improvement will be required.
