Another Sturm Blunder: "Wasn't fun to watch"
SK Sturm Graz only manages a 1:1 draw against Wolfsberger AC and has now been waiting for a win for three matches. A late penalty from Oumar Diakite at least saves a point for the Graz team.
The Graz team did not have a good day in Wolfsberg.
In the 11th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, Ingolitsch's squad could not manage more than a 1:1 draw against league bottom-dweller WAC (to the match report>>>).
Weinhandl: "We weren't good today"
Although Belmin Beganovic initially celebrated a presumed opening goal, it was disallowed due to a foul committed earlier, as referee Sadikovski, after a VAR check, identified a foul by Luca Weinhandl.
For the "culprit," it was incomprehensible after the game in an interview with "Sky": "He can't be serious, can he? (...) There's no clear line."
After that, Sturm faded and fell behind. Although Diakite managed to prevent the defeat late on, Sturm, according to Weinhandl, didn't deserve a win: "We weren't good today."
Ingolitsch with renewed referee criticism
Weinhandl's coach, Fabio Ingolitsch, saw it similarly: "We didn't play well today. WAC wasn't any better. And that's what you get."
According to the Sturm coach, it would have been important to take the lead against Wolfsberg. But that didn't happen, also because Beganovic was taken down in the penalty area by WAC goalkeeper Gliklich in the first half. Ingolitsch: "I didn't see the goalkeeper touching the ball, only taking out our striker."
Even after that, Ingolitsch's team still had everything in their own hands, but "didn't play a good Bundesliga match." They were far too weak on the ball, according to the Sturm coach: "That wasn't fun to watch."
Diakite: "That's football!"
The Graz team could thank their top scorer Oumar Diakite, who secured at least one point for the "Blackies" with his eighth goal of the season.
Before the penalty, he felt no pressure, according to the Ivorian: "That was no problem. (...) My teammates are counting on me, so I have to deliver."
One has to work their way out of the winless streak of three games without securing three points, said Diakite: "Sometimes everything is good, sometimes it's a bit difficult. (...) That's football!"
The Graz team will have their next chance for a win this coming Thursday, when SK Sturm hosts Celje in the Europa League (from 21:00 in the LIVE-TICKER>>>).
