On Saturday evening, LASK secured a 2-1 victory against WSG Tirol in the 11th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.
The Tyroleans were able to keep up well for long stretches and even took the lead temporarily. In the end, however, the Wattener were left empty-handed. After the game, they knew that more would certainly have been possible.
Counter-attack goal frustrates Wattener
Especially the second goal conceded shortly after the break caused frustration among the Tyroleans.
"If you have your own set-piece and then concede a counter-attack goal away from home, you somehow don't deserve it," says Thomas Goiginger after the game in an interview with "SKY".
Coach Philipp Semlic also expressed his annoyance about the goal conceded after their own corner kick: "It simply shouldn't happen that you concede such goals."
Despite his team's positive development, the 43-year-old still sees room for improvement. "The way we play is good – but we also have to take these steps to get something against big opponents," emphasizes Semlic.
"We have to capitalize on such chances"
Moritz Wels, who initially put the Wattener in the lead, also sees missed opportunities: "Definitely more would have been possible."
In the second half, the former Austrianer had a chance to equalize but was thwarted by Andrade, who cleared the ball off the line.
"If I had been a bit cooler and lifted it slightly, they might not have had a chance," says Wels self-critically. He adds: "We have to capitalize on such chances so that we can also get points against the big teams."
