SCR Altach and SV Ried drew 1:1 on Saturday evening. In a tough match, both teams took a long time to become dangerous. However, the substitutes on both sides still provided moments of success.

Gritty Encounter

Both teams started the match very cautiously and struggled for a long time to get dangerously close to the opponent's goal. The first noteworthy chance fell to Evan Eghosa, who, in the 14th minute, shot the ball towards the top left corner but was denied by the well-reacting Altach keeper Dejan Stojanovic.

Altach played too imprecisely in the final third and created no real scoring opportunities. The absence of the ill Patrick Greil was particularly noticeable in the Vorarlbergers' offensive play.

Ried also struggled to pose a threat against Altach's defensive block. For the fans in the Schnabelholz Stadium, the first 45 minutes were anything but a football feast.

The Substitutes Strike

After the break, there was a bit more fire in the match. Shortly after the restart, Yann Massombo hit only the crossbar with a dangerous curling shot. A few seconds later, Ried's Fabian Rossdorfer took a shot from close range. But Stojanovic was able to distinguish himself again.

Altach was the more dangerous team in the second half but couldn't finish their attacks cleanly enough.

Instead, it was Ried who took the lead through substitute Isaac Thelin (77'). Fabian Rossdorfer curled the cross perfectly onto the head of the substitute, who directed the ball into the far corner. Thelin had only been substituted in five minutes before his goal.

In stoppage time, the hosts equalized out of nowhere. Again, a substitute struck: Srdjan Hrstić asserted himself in a duel against Radonjic and scored with his shot into the far corner.

In the end, it was a deserved share of the points in Vorarlberg. With this result, the Upper Austrians (Ried) lose fifth place in the table to TSV Hartberg. Altach also missed the chance to move ahead of GAK.

Ried with Derby Ahead

Next week, Altach travels to Styria to face TSV Hartberg. For Ried, the Upper Austrian derby against LASK is on the agenda. Mario Despotovic's team will want to avenge their 5:4 cup defeat there.
