Last-Minute Equalizer! WAC Misses Home Win Against Sturm
For a long time, it looked like WAC's first win since August, before Diakite converted a penalty in stoppage time.
In the 11th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, Wolfsberger AC and SK Sturm Graz drew 1-1. The Schmid-eleven was ahead for a long time thanks to an Avdijaj goal, but Sturm managed to equalize with a penalty.
Three goals, only one counts
SK Sturm was the dominant team in the first half and seemingly took the lead after about half an hour. A long clearance from Koller into the attack, Behounek misjudges it and can no longer clear the ball. Beganovic capitalizes on this, runs alone towards Gliklich, and lobs the goalkeeper (27.). However, the goal did not count after a VAR check, because referee Sadikovski, after video review, recognized a foul by Weinhandl in the build-up.
About ten minutes later, WAC celebrates: Free kick for the hosts. The cross finds Piesinger's head, who lobs Helac with a header. But Kitz had fouled Stankovic earlier, and the referee called a foul (39.).
But shortly before halftime, the hosts really got to celebrate. Corner kick from Fitz, in the middle Koller misjudges it. Sulzner passes to Avdijaj, who scores the lead for Wolfsberg with his first goal of the season from a turn (45.).
Sturm equalizes late
The second half was largely quiet. SK Sturm had more of the play, but Seidl missed the best chance to equalize (55.). On the other side, Avdijaj (62.) and Sky-Schwarz (65.) failed to extend the lead.
And because Verhounig also failed alone in front of Helac (88.), the score remained 1-0 for the Lavanttal team until stoppage time. But then Diabate played the ball with his hand in his own penalty area. A penalty was awarded, which Diakite converted for his seventh goal of the season to secure a late equalizer for Sturm (90.+6.)!
