From November 2023 to April 2025, Robert Klauß was at the helm of SK Rapid as head coach!

In total, the German coached the "Green-Whites" in 67 games, achieving an average of 1.63 points per game. Even though his time in Wien-Hütteldorf ended abruptly, he still looks back fondly.

Rapid in his Heart

In an interview with "Transfermarkt", Klauß said: "Nürnberg and Rapid were two truly great and instructive experiences. I will always keep the club in my heart, and I still feel so connected to Rapid that I attend the home games as a fan."

At the same time, he also learned a lot for the future and significantly changed as a coach and a person: "Many priorities have shifted. I have become sharper and clearer in communication. In the past, I let too much slide, and at the same time, I was not very empathetic or relaxed," said Klauß.

League Leader in Slovakia

A year and a half after his departure from Rapid, the 41-year-old is now head coach in Slovakia at Dunajska Streda. Things are going outstandingly there. After twelve games, the club is undefeated and top of the league.

"The decision to go to Slovakia was a conscious one. I had two options: Either I go to a club in a bigger league and play to avoid relegation. Or I go to a slightly smaller league and play for the title," said the coach.

Experience under Rangnick

Before his coaching stints at Rapid and in Nürnberg, the German was a long-time assistant coach and youth coach at RB Leipzig. Between 2018 and 2020, Klauß assisted ÖFB national team coach Ralf Rangnick and former DFB national team coach Julian Nagelsmann.

He learned a lot from both of them: "From Julian, I learned to be courageous, to make unusual decisions sometimes. From Ralf, I learned: As a head coach, you don't have to know everything – but you have to know where you could get the relevant knowledge from," said Klauß.
