Yusuf Demir has recently played his way into the spotlight at SK Rapid. After two goals and two assists in the first seven Bundesliga matchdays, the 23-year-old is expected to stay in Hütteldorf long-term.

Sporting Director Markus Katzer commented on the attacking player's future during the half-time break of the Bundesliga match against LASK on "Sky" and confirmed initial talks with his agents.

"We also used the international break to sit down with his agents. We held initial discussions the day before yesterday," Katzer explained.

Option to be exercised

Demir's contract is fundamentally set to expire in the summer of 2027, but Rapid holds an option for a one-year extension. The Sporting Director is not yet in a hurry to exercise it.

"We're not stressed about exercising the option, as there's a deadline by which we can exercise it. We will definitely exercise the option, but before we do, we absolutely want to extend the contract," Katzer clarified.

The 46-year-old is optimistic that a longer-term agreement can be reached. "I believe he feels really comfortable here. He has made huge strides. You can see an improvement from game to game. He is an outstanding player for us, and that's why we absolutely want to extend his contract, and I believe we can do that."
