Oumar Diakite: The striker Sturm was missing

In his starting eleven debut, Diakite fired Graz to victory with a brace. He's not even at full strength yet. What mix makes him so special:

A goal every 45 minutes in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

Oumar Diakite's record so far is impressive. With his brace against Austria Wien, the 22-year-old loan striker from Stade Reims now has three goals.

"I am very, very happy that I was able to score these two goals - and of course, that I could help my team," says the Sturm match-winner after the 2-0 victory against Austria, speaking to "Sky".

90 or less?

However, there's a reason for this incredibly high scoring rate: Diakite is still not 100 percent fit. That's why, until the Austria match, he only came on as a substitute and was replaced against the "Violets" after 64 minutes, despite his two goals.

Diakite himself stated after the match that he was approximately 90 percent fit.

His coach Fabio Ingolitsch saw things a bit differently: "Honestly, I don't see him at 90 percent yet. Because I know what a fit Oumar can bring."

The striker had improved over the past weeks. "But you also saw today that the tank, at the latest between the 55th and 60th minute – when he plays with full intensity, which we naturally want  – becomes very, very empty."

The "special situation"

Although the striker is certainly not yet 100 percent fit, he receives high praise from his coach: "He is the missing piece of the puzzle."

Ingolitsch and Diakite share a common past. At FC Liefering, the 34-year-old coached the Ivorian for 24 games. Including the four matches at Sturm, Ingolitsch is now the coach under whom Diakite has played the most.

"We have a special situation here," the coach said, speaking to "Sky": "For one, he has worked with me for a longer time – so he knows what it's about, even off the ball."

Pace, Physique, Finishing Ability

Ingolitsch also highlights the complete profile of the 31-time Ivory Coast international: "He has the necessary speed to play our typical Sturm-style game. Furthermore, he has the physical component of being stable enough to hold up balls."

Additionally, according to the coach, there's his development in front of goal: "He has become much calmer, cooler – and a bit older. A lot has happened with him in the three years we haven't seen each other."

As Ingolitsch emphasizes, Diakite also plays an important role off the pitch. For instance, he gave a speech after the match. He started it in German, then had to "switch" to English, the coach said.

"I have forgotten many words and still need a bit more time and some German lessons," Diakite said with a smile on "Sky". So the development doesn't stop...
