SCR Altach ends their losing streak!

The Vorarlberg team wins the basement battle against Wolfsberger AC 3-0 in the eighth round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, thus celebrating a victory after five consecutive league defeats.

With their second three points of the season, Altach overtakes WAC and hands over the Red Lantern to the Carinthians.

Good Start Immediately Rewarded

The hosts start much more actively into the match and take an early lead. A long ball from Böckle finds Diawara, who asserts himself against Behounek and Diabate and beats WAC keeper Gütlbauer while falling (6').

Just seven minutes later, Altach adds another. After a loss of possession by Wohlmuth, starting XI debutant Elongo-Yombo sends Böckle, who had started a run deep, with a delicate chip. The left-back remains ice-cold in front of Gütlbauer and makes it 2-0 (13').

WAC barely makes an offensive impression, while the Altach players are more aggressive in challenges and exploit the available spaces. Greil misses another good opportunity with a header over the goal (27').

At the other end, Dominik Fitz tests Altach custodian Stojanovic with a free-kick, which he fends off with his fists (40').

WAC Captain Piesinger Sees Red

Shortly before halftime, things get even worse for the visitors.

Simon Piesinger pulls Elongo-Yombo down as the last man and is shown the red card for it (44'). For the WAC captain, it is a particularly bitter moment, as he is making his 250th Bundesliga appearance.

For the Wolfsberg team, it is already their third sending-off of the current season.

Final Decision After the Break

Silberberger makes three changes at halftime, but the second half starts similarly to the first, namely with a quick goal for the hosts.

A clearance from Gütlbauer turns into a boomerang; Greil chips over the entire Wolfsberg defence and sends Diawara through. The striker bags a brace and secures the final decision (49').

After that, Altach also has further chances for a fourth goal, but they fail to convert them.

An Altach Player Also Sent Off

After an unnecessary foul near the center circle, Altach's Bähre is then sent off (61'). WAC then takes control, but a dream bicycle-kick goal from WAC substitute Karamoko is disallowed due to an offside position in the build-up (66').

In the final phase, a fourth Altach goal is in the air; first, Massombo fails to beat Gütlbauer after a Hrstic cross. Cosgun then hits the rebound against the crossbar (83').

Shortly after, Hristic narrowly misses the far post (87'). The Serb almost scores his goal in stoppage time, but he is narrowly offside.

Thus, Ognjen Zaric's team celebrates an important breakthrough after five consecutive league defeats. With six points, Altach overtakes WAC and is now second to last. The Wolfsberg team remains on five points and has now been waiting for a victory for seven Bundesliga matches.

Next Sunday, Altach continues away at Red Bull Salzburg. WAC hosts WSG Tirol, the former club of coach Thomas Silberberger, on the same day.
