Alaba to Austria? "They want him. David wants to too, but..."
According to father George Alaba, the defender will soon announce his new club. There have been calls from Austria.
ÖFB defender David Alaba is still without a club. That is set to change soon.
"He will soon announce what's next," said father George Alaba on the sidelines of the Bruno Gala 2026 in an interview with the "Kronen Zeitung".
"He's doing great. He's fit and feels good," the 66-year-old said about his son's fitness.
"He still has big plans"
There were restrictions in the search for a club. "Out of respect for his former clubs," George Alaba emphasized. This means David likely won't sign with a rival of his former clubs FC Bayern München and Real Madrid.
In any case, there were many inquiries. "From the USA, here in Europe, everywhere," George Alaba explained.
The defender also received calls from Austria. "Yes, they want him. David wants to too. But for now, it's too early for him. He still has big plans when it comes to football."
