Fitz "quickly received a rejection" from Austria

Dominik Fitz is playing in Austria again, specifically for Wolfsberger AC. He has spoken extensively about his transfer for the first time with "bundesliga.at".

In Minnesota, the creative player only made nine competitive appearances for the professional team. A coaching change in the winter was also a reason for this. Fitz did not feature in Cameron Knowles' plans.

"We simply didn't get along well, and hardly communicated with each other. That's not easy for a player, especially when you've only been there for just two months. That there would be a coaching change so quickly was also not part of my planning, I have to say," explains the ex-Austria player.

Rejection from His Beloved Club

His first point of contact regarding a return to Austria was Wiener Austria.

"Austria was also in talks, but I received a rejection relatively quickly. Such a transfer is not as simple as it looks from the outside. There's a lot behind it; everything has to make sense for everyone. That simply wasn't the case with Austria," says Fitz.

For the "Violets," the 27-year-old scored 99 times in 152 games.

Austria's Squad No Better Than WAC's

When asked about WAC's weak past season, Fitz says: "If I look at the squads, WAC is certainly no worse off than Austria; we can definitely achieve more this year."

In Wolfsberg, fans will certainly be looking forward to the duo of Donis Avdijaj and Fitz. Together, the two bring experience from 311 Bundesliga appearances to the pitch.

"Donis is someone who has consistently collected scorer points and delivered strong performances in Austria in recent years. His quality is undeniable. I'm really looking forward to when we can play together," enthuses Fitz.
