In the 11th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, Wolfsberger AC narrowly missed their second win of the season (to the match report>>>).

Due to the opponent's last-minute equalizer, Manfred Schmid's team continues to wait for a full victory since matchday one.

Avdijaj: The one with that certain something

However, everything started so well for the Lavanttalers. Donis Avdijaj put WAC ahead shortly before halftime. Speaking to "Sky" after the final whistle, the veteran expressed satisfaction with his team's performance:

"It's not easy to host a really, really good team like Sturm. I believe you can see what we've been working on in the last few days, and you can see that we caused big problems for the opponent."

The performance was a good reaction to the past six consecutive defeats, according to Avdijaj.

The 30-year-old was able to leave his mark on the game with his first goal of the season: "It's no secret that players like me need that certain something and need confidence, and then special stories like these emerge."

Schmid: "We all agree that's never a penalty"

A special (negative) story was also the penalty that the Carinthians had to accept deep into stoppage time. From the perspective of WAC coach Manfred Schmid, it was a clear wrong decision: "That's ridiculous! From what distance does the ball hit the hand? From three centimeters away? I believe we all agree that's never a penalty."

Nevertheless, the 55-year-old is proud of his team "even if we should have scored the second goal." In his first ten days as the new coach, he got to know a cohesive team, Schmid said.

"The win would have been golden, of course, but the boys already know what they achieved today against a team like Sturm Graz."

Manfred Schmid and his team will have their next chance for their first full victory as WAC coach next Friday, when the bottom-placed team visits league leaders Rapid (from 7:30 PM in the LIVE-TICKER>>>).
