Three goals in 12 minutes! Salzburg defeats Sturm Graz

In the 7th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, Red Bull Salzburg celebrates a late but clear 3-0 home victory against Sturm Graz. The "Red Bulls" decide the game in five minutes, Sturm finishes the game with ten men.

Sturm with a better start

In an intense but low-chance first half, Sturm is the better team, but misses the opening goal after chances from Seidl (26th), Kayombo (38th), and Koller (43rd).

Salzburg's best phase in the first half comes around the 24th minute: Konate gets a header on target after a corner kick. The ball trickles against the post. However, the attacking player would have been offside.

5 strong Salzburg minutes

The overall picture hardly changes in the second half either. Sturm is the more active team, but Salzburg scores shortly before the final quarter of an hour.

Substitute Camara takes advantage of Malic remaining on the ground. He dribbles into the penalty area and shoots. Khudyakov makes a strong save, but Sturm cannot clear. The ball once again lands with Salzburg and finally with Veratschnig, who scores to take the lead (72nd).

And it gets even more bitter from Sturm Graz's perspective. Heil, who had just recently been booked, comes in too late against Veratschnig and sees a second yellow card, resulting in a red (76th). Salzburg promptly exploits the numerical advantage. From the subsequent free-kick, the Sturm defense is caught sleeping, and Boma heads in for 2-0 (77th).

Camara's wonder goal seals the deal

With a numerical advantage, Salzburg finds things significantly easier and scores a dream goal to seal the deal. Camara spectacularly finishes a perfectly executed attack and a perfectly weighted cross with an overhead kick (84th).

In the end, Salzburg wins against Sturm Graz for the first time in well over a year and a half, and is second, just one point behind Rapid. Sturm remains in fourth place.
