Only "X" against the promoted side! Sturm drops points at home
The Graz team stumbles on matchday four and misses the chance to go top of the table. Lustenau fails to hold onto a lead but snatches a point from Graz.
On the fourth matchday of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, Austria Lustenau snatched a point from SK Sturm.
After the early lead by the Vorarlberg side, the Graz team managed to equalize in the second half. However, it wasn't enough for a winning goal.
Sturm starts sluggishly again
As against Altach, the Graz team did not get off to a good start. But unlike against the Rheindörfler, Markus Mader's team was able to capitalize on Sturm's weakness:
A corner was played short, and after Soares' cross, Weixelbraun rose highest in the middle, giving Khudyakov's replacement, Helac, no chance with a well-placed header (10th minute).
Subsequently, Sturm improved, but mostly failed due to themselves or a spirited Lustenau defense. Seidl had the best chance to equalize in the first half shortly before the break. At the end of a combination in the opponent's penalty area, Seidl got a shot away, but his effort was cleared off the line by Gmeiner (37th minute).
Thus, Lustenau took a lead into the break.
Jatta successful again
Sturm's start to the second half also failed. Fabio Ingolitsch's team can thank their goalkeeper for not falling further behind.
Shortly after the hour mark, the Graz team was awarded a fortunate penalty. Gmeiner got the ball on his arm in a challenge with Jatta, and after a VAR review, referee Weinberger awarded the spot-kick.
Jatta stepped up after his goal against Altach, remained composed, and made it 1-1. The striker waited a long time, delayed, and slotted the ball into the right side of the goal (66th minute).
However, even after the equalizer, Sturm continued to chase their form. There was still excitement at the very end: In the 9th minute of stoppage time, Schierl was sent off with a red card after a foul on Weinhandl.
Ultimately, Lustenau snatched a deserved point from Graz and sits in fifth place. Sturm missed the chance to go top of the table and remains in third with eight points.
