First Season Win for SV Ried - GAK Coaching Boost Fails to Materialize
After GAK's supposed lead, the Upper Austrians regain their footing and secure their first season win thanks to a penalty.
In the 4th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, SV Ried defeated GAK 1-0, preventing a positive start for interim coach Joachim Standfest.
Both teams initially struggled with the conditions in Ried, finding it difficult to judge the ball correctly.
SV Ried first posed a threat in the 12th minute. A throw-in from Maart indirectly found Steurer, whose header was saved by Stankovic.
A few minutes later, Ried's goalkeeper Leitner also made a notable save from a Lichtenberger header (16').
Offside Goal and Penalty
In the 28th minute, GAK celebrated. The Graz team launched an impressive attack down the left flank. Klassen played a low cross behind SV Ried's defensive line. Alexander Hofleitner initially missed at the near post, but Anderson, lurking at the far post, tapped the ball over the line.
However, referee Daniel Pfister disallowed the goal. Hofleitner started from an offside position and then actively interfered with the play.
Shortly before halftime, the hosts took a 1-0 lead from a penalty kick. Ante Bajic was brought down in the box. Niama Sissoko confidently converted the resulting spot-kick.
In the second half, GAK had their biggest chance to equalize early through Hofleitner, but he fired the ball over the bar (53').
With this home victory, SV Ried secured their first full points of the current season, now standing at four points and temporarily climbing to 6th place.
GAK remains on three points and is now only in 10th place.
