Wacker Wins Thanks to Late Penalty Against St. Pölten
While SKN remains goalless, Yilmaz secures the late winning goal.
SKN St. Pölten remains goalless even in the fourth round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga.
The Lower Austrians lost 0-1 to FC Wacker Innsbruck at Innsbrucker Tivoli in front of 4,481 spectators. Initially, the game was open and back-and-forth for a long time, but in the final phase, the Tyroleans managed to decide the match in their favour.
Kunze Clears Off the Line
The Innsbruck team took control from the start and also had the first chance. Knett couldn't quite hold onto a long-range shot from Lechl, and the ball bounced to Sy, who, however, couldn't get a proper shot away. SKN was able to clear the danger.
The Lower Austrians had their first chance after a good 20 minutes. However, Krasniqi's header posed no problems for Wacker keeper Kirchmayr. Nevertheless, the "Wolves" got into the game better afterwards.
In the 33rd minute, they then had a huge opportunity to take the lead. Amon managed to beat Kirchmayr, but Kunze just managed to clear the ball off the line. Shortly before half-time, Sy had another chance; his curled shot went just wide.
Back and Forth
In the second half, it took a while until it became truly dangerous for the first time. After a cross from Amon, Krasniqi got a completely unmarked header, but his shot went just wide of the goal. St. Pölten, however, had more of the play, similar to the end of the first half.
Shortly afterwards, Stendera got to the ball completely unopposed in the penalty area. However, Joppich threw himself in the way of his shot, just managing to prevent them from falling behind.
At the other end, Tekir got a shot away from a similar position, but he shot over the goal. Wacker then took more control again. Gstrein failed three times for the Tyroleans.
Yilmaz Secures the Decider
Wacker kept up the pressure. Joppich played a nice pass to Evans, who took a touch and shot. However, Knett made a strong save. Evans also initiated the next move, passing to Sy, who penetrated the penalty area with a strong turn. There, he was brought down just before taking a shot.
Referee Gachter awarded a penalty. Yilmaz stepped up and confidently converted into the bottom right corner, securing the Tyroleans' victory.
With this, Wacker currently stands in third place after four rounds and nine points. St. Pölten, on the other hand, is second to last, goalless and pointless.
